The trumpet’s sound is metallic, bright (but also dark in the lower register), intense, brilliant, powerful and stately.
The trumpet is characterized by its striking, triumphal sound and by the fact that it boasts the highest register of all the brass instruments. It does splendid work, single-handedly giving expression to heroism and jubilation. Like some of the other instruments in the band, the trumpet is also used in jazz and pop music. Similar to most brass instruments, the trumpet has three valves and is played by vibrating one's lips on a mouthpiece.
- 1/8 of students in the Beginner Band will be selected to play the trumpet.
